The Challenge

Modernizing a classic food industry identity.

The challenge was to launch a pizza delivery service identity that transcended the typical clichés of the industry (hats, mustaches, generic Italian flags). The brand needed to signal speed and efficiency, as implied by the “Delivery” aspect, while simultaneously communicating a modern, sophisticated, and high-quality product. The resulting identity needed to be visually energetic, instantly recognizable in a cluttered digital marketplace, and easily adaptable to simple, high-volume production materials like pizza boxes, cups, and delivery packaging.

Our approach

Abstract shapes representing movement and pizza colors.

Our approach was to reject literal food icons and instead focus on an Abstract Wordmark built from component shapes. We strategically used the natural color palette of pizza ingredients—red, orange, yellow, and green—to inform the design. The abstract shapes were intentionally scattered to convey dynamism and the urgent movement of delivery. This iconic shape system was then converted into a repeating geometric pattern, ensuring that every touchpoint, from the delivery bag to the coffee cup, reinforces the brand’s sophisticated, energetic, and modern aesthetic, distinguishing it entirely from competitor brands.

project breakdown

Geometric icon, color coding, and dynamic pattern system.

The project started with Abstract Icon Development, focusing on shaping the letterforms of “DAVILA” using simple geometric shapes. This was followed by Color Palette Selection, where the core red, green, and yellow/orange were locked in to represent fresh ingredients. The next critical phase was Pattern System Creation, transforming the icon components into engaging, repeating designs for packaging consistency. The final stage was Brand Application and Contextualization, testing the identity across mugs, delivery boxes, and promotional material to ensure the abstract mark and color scheme were recognizable and maintained impact at various scales.
